Blue Ridge Parkway!!

Recently we rode down the Blue Ridge Parkway and stopped at several overlooks. The views were majestic. In addition to lots of great views from overlooks, the Parkway also has many hikes of different difficulties. Next trip we hope to go South to hike Graveyard Fields and enjoy some waterfalls. Or maybe we will go North to Mount Mitchell to enjoy the view from the highest peak east of the Mississippi. Choices abound and be sure to stop by the Visitor’s Center for more information. (Parkway has seasonal closures).

Lake Lure Tours!

Lake Lure Tours offers tours on the hour with seasonal changes in availability. The boat tour was one of our favorite family adventures of this summer. The tour lasts an hour and highlights the rich natural and cultural history of this man-made lake and the surrounding shoreline. I enjoyed seeing landmarks from the movie Dirty Dancing. I was also intrigued to learn how Rumbling Bald (shown in the picture) got its name. Be sure to bring your camera!

Western North Carolina Nature Center

We always enjoy a trip to the WNC Nature Center, but this week we were especially excited to see the two new red pandas. Leafa and Phoenix are settled into their new home and are part of a breeding program. The WNC Nature Center is home to over 60 different species of wild and domesticated animals. There are also several interactive displays for children. My three year old niece loved the wooden xylophone. This Asheville Area Attraction is fun for the whole family!

Chimney Rock Park

The view from Chimney Rock is one of the best views in Western North Carolina. The more adventurous of us climbed 499 steps up to Chimney Rock, while the rest of us enjoyed a 32 second elevator ride. After enjoying the breath-taking view (and some ice cream) we headed to the Great Woodland Adventure to see some mountain critters and walk an educational trail. When asked what her favorite part of the day was, my 9-year-old niece replied “the heights.” This Asheville Area Attraction is located just 17 miles from The Cove at Fairview.

Hickory Nut Gap Farm!!

Whether we are having a summer cook-out or making some winter chili, Hickory Nut Gap Farm is our favorite place to go for 100% grass-fed beef.   Their Farm Store features a wide selection of meat as well as local crafts and products.

Be sure to visit this working farm that is located just 4 miles from The Cove at Fairview.

Fall in the Mountains!!

This year we have been very excited to share with our guests the unique and spectacular beauty of Fall in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Guests can take a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway, hike to an extraordinary view, or simply enjoy rocking on the porch of one our rentals. Shown here is the exquisite beauty of the woods surrounding “My Place” rental home. Tulip Poplars, Oaks, and other native trees surround this home.

Relax in a Hammock!

We have just added 4 Eno Hammocks to the Cove at Fairview! Listen to the sound of waterfalls as you relax in one of our 2 Eno Hammocks at Koi Falls! These Hammocks are a great place to relax in the shade and renew yourself in the tranquility of nature. Also, climb the steps on Flower Hill to relax in 2 more new Hammocks. Enjoy an Eastward View of the gentle mountains and the vast blue sky from the comfort of these 2 new Hammocks.

Wonderful Time!

“Thank you for letting us use your home. You really have thought of everything! We had such a wonderful time and are already talking about coming back. Thank you for the fresh bread and eggs, we ate it all! We also checked out Tupelo Honey for lunch and loved it! We had such an awesome “snow day.” We definitely made use of the fireplace! We also had a great adventure at the Biltmore and Chimney Rock. Thank you again, we will be back!”

Great Place!

“Frank you have a great place here! Thanks for your hospitality, we enjoyed golf, hiking, zip-line adventure, great restaurants and amazing scenery.  We would definitely come back.”

Great Time!

“We had a great time in your lovely home.  Enjoyed our day at the Biltmore and only wish we could stay longer.  Two nights was not long enough.  Thank you for the bread and eggs. . . What a nice touch of hospitality.”
